Happy New Year! We are halfway through January now and the new year here at Sairee Cottage Diving is well underway.
As with every year, we are committed to getting you guys diving, rain or shine, and this year has already given us a little of everything. We had a week of calm and sun, followed by some torrential rains and wind, and we managed to take our enthusiastic divers out on some fantastic dives regardless. We have even started up our Saturday day trips to Sail Rock again on our newly improved boat (we can now sunbathe between dives in further comfort with the addition of carpeting on the sun deck)! We have been to Chumphon Pinnacle to remove Ghost Nets discarded by fisher men over the dive site! Well done to the DM Team!
In the classroom, we have had a steady flow of eager students, including a new group of divemaster trainees, many of whom are looking forward to going on to do their PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC) in February at Sairee Cottage Diving. I, personally, am especially excited to see the PADI IDC up and running again, since I was fortunate enough to train as an instructor with Sairee Cottage Diving’s very first PADI IDC last year. The skills I learned in that course gave me the knowledge and tools I use daily in my teaching to make sure all of my students become safe, well informed divers. And passing on the love of diving is a rewarding and unique experience with every group of students! February’s PADI IDC students have a lot to look forward to. I can’t wait to congratulate them and help them celebrate once they’ve completed their Instructor Examination!
After an exciting day of diving, check out the Sairee Cottage pool bar which now proudly serves 60 different craft beers (the largest selection on the island) as well as several single malt whiskeys. If you’re looking for good drinks and good company after your dives, you know where to find us! Here’s to 2015!
