PADI Divemaster Course Length on Koh Tao
The PADI Divemaster Course Koh Tao at Sairee Cottage Diving usually runs for a period of 6 to 8 weeks, depending upon your level of experience when you start. You can start the course any day of the week, throughout the year.
Between sessions you will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy everything the island of Koh Tao has to offer, such as the beautiful beaches, the stunning scenery you can see on the many hiking trails, adventure sports such as rock climbing, abseiling, flying trapeze and sailing and much much more. At the end of your PADI Divemaster Course an application fee will have to be sent to PADI to activate your status as a PADI Divemaster, this will be 245 AUD for 2023. You can pay this with a credit card directly to PADI.

PADI Divemaster Course Koh Tao Prerequisites
To join us on our Sairee Cottage Divemaster course you should:
- Have proof of 40 logged dives (don’t worry you can use some of those free dives we give you to help you get to 40 before the start)
- Be a PADI Rescue Diver or Equivalent rating from another Dive Agency
- Hold proof of first aid/cardio-pulmonary resuscitation training within the last 24 months (must be verified as acceptable by PADI)
- Have medical clearance of fitness to dive, the PADI Medical form signed by a doctor within the past 12 months
- Be at least 18 years old
(To become certified for the Divemaster Course you must have proof of 60 logged dives by the end of the course)

My name’s Maddy, Originally from Montreal, Canada. I was first introduced to diving in 2010 when I was backpacking Australia, and it was a love at first descent!
A few years later I started a backpack trip around South East Asia with the intent to do more diving; little did I know my passion for diving was only starting! I reached Koh Tao, one of the best places I have ever visited and I knew it was meant to be. I took my first steps into professional diving, started my Divemaster training and never looked back.
Now a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and the DM Mentor for your PADI Divemaster Course here on Koh Tao I could not be happier. Being able to introduce people to the world of professional diving is amazing. I love my job, my office is the ocean, I get to show people something exceptional every single day and meet people from all over the world.

Why Sairee Cottage Diving?
With so many dive schools to choose from here on Koh Tao, you may be wondering why exactly you should choose Sairee Cottage Diving as your destination in Thailand for your PADI Divemaster Course.
This is a valid question and lets us try and answer that for you!
Sairee Cottage Diving is a 5 Star PADI IDC Centre. We are a medium size dive school (by comparison to some on Koh Tao) which means that we can dedicate more time to you as a new professional and help you to feel comfortable in your new surroundings and endeavours. This also means that we aren’t by any means a small dive school, which often means being the only divemaster or perhaps one of two on the course. We tend to have a good-sized crew at all times, obviously having slightly more during the higher seasons in Thailand (December-April and June-September) and slightly fewer in the lower or monsoon seasons (March-May and October-November, November being our traditional monsoon).
We run our dive school based on European Standard, which means our level of care and attention to detail can be somewhat higher than it can be in other parts of the world. For example we only run European Approved BAUER Pure Air Compressors, guaranteeing the safety of your air. We also keep our equipment up to the highest working level meaning that your free rental equipment will work like it was brand new.
Sairee Cottage Diving is not just a dive school! We have many facilities to help you immerse yourself into the live style of a PADI professional. Our dedicated professional classroom has air-conditioning for those extra sweaty days and a full compliment of multimedia learning materials to assist you in gaining and retaining the knowledge you will learn on this course.
We boast one of the most picturesque locations on the main beach of Sairee, with stunning views of the sun set. This beautiful scenery can be viewed from our private beach area or from the nearby pool bar, fully equipped to help you unwind after a healthy dose of Diving! Or if food is the order of the day then our beachfront restaurant serving a wide range of Thai and Western dishes is the perfect spot to catch those final rays as that pink orb drops below the horizon, signalling the end of another day on Koh Tao.
We will also provide you with your own professional Dive Boat, completely kitted out with everything necessary for safe and constructive diving. This is by far one of the greatest facilities we offer to new Divemaster professionals in training, as it allows us to get away from busy boats full of new divers and focus on training that is more associated with Divemaster level.

PADI Divemaster Course Koh Tao Overview
The PADI Divemaster course here on Koh Tao is the longest most demanding of all the PADI Recreational courses and for that reason it would be silly for us to list everything you need to learn and perform as you would most likely end up falling asleep!
Instead we shall give you a list of some of the activities that you will be getting stuck into.

Lifestyle Information for Your PADI Divemaster Course Koh Tao, Thailand
On the island of Koh Tao we are about 1:30 hours away from the nearest island Koh Phangan (famous for its Full Moon Parties) so we are pretty remote. It is however very easy to get here. Most people get a bus or train from Bangkok and then the ferry over to Koh Tao but you may also fly to Koh Samui from Bangkok and then take the ferry from there.
Just because we are remote doesn’t mean that there is nothing to do, as we have mentioned already there are a wide range of activities for you to throw yourself into during the days that you aren’t diving. We are also very lucky here on Koh Tao in the fact that we have an astronomical amount of restaurants and bars serving delicious food and beverages. We are privy to a few 24/7 convenience stores so no matter what the time you can always find yourself fed and watered.
As a dive school we take our work very seriously ensuring that the highest of standards are up kept. However, we also know how to relax and unwind and we’re sure that you will enjoy joining us for a few beers or whatever your tipple on the nights that we have free. Every 2 weeks or so we put on a Snorkel Test Event for the staff and Divemasters and Instructors training with us. How can you go wrong with free food!! Dinners, Nights Out, Movie Nights and more will become part of your life with us here at Sairee Cottage Diving if you so choose.
