The Myanmar flood which is tormenting the country has now affected almost one million people with 100 reported deaths and over one million acres of rice fields lost.
Although the monsoon season causes regular flooding, Cyclone Komen has worsened the flood by leaving a path of destruction in the Rakhine state, as reported by BBC news.
As is tradition in the Sairee Cottage family, we like to help out where we can. This is why the staff organised a fund raiser to send our own small relief package to the people of Myanmar.
Myanmar flood relief package
We collected money as well as clothing from staff members and our customers who were more than happy to help out. We collected these donations at the dive shop, the restaurant and the reception area. Even if this is only a tiny package, we believe that every little bit counts. Even if we have done nothing more than inspired other people to do the same.
Several of our valued staff are from Myanmar themselves and we asked George to ensure our package reaches those affected worst by the Myanmar flood.
We encourage everyone to contribute to the aid in Myanmar with however little they can give. A million small donations make a big impact to those in need. Thank you.
