I’m not sure about everyone else, but I personally love swimming past huge schools of fishes. One of my favorite fishes to see in schools, are batfish. Sairee Cottage Diving frequents the dive site, Twins, regularly as not only is it a perfect site for new divers to attain their training, but it’s also a site with plenty to see.

At Twins, if one swims to the shallow pinnacle, one is bound to come across a school of Batfish towards the South East of the pinnacle. Some of our Divemasters have come to affectionately call that area the Bat Café.

Longfin Batfish, Sairee Cottage Diving, Koh Tao - Thailand

This photo above was taken by one of Sairee Cottage Diving’s underwater photographer, Emma Ong, last Saturday at another beautiful dive site on Koh Tao, Southwest.

The Longfin Batfish, Platax teira, can grow to around 60cm and feed on plankton, algea and small invertebrates. They are very peaceful fish and hence a favorite amongst divers.

Whenever you’re diving with Sairee Cottage Diving, if you happen see any marine life that interest you, feel free to ask any of our friendly Dive Instructors or Divemasters, we’ll be more than happy to find out what you saw!
