Chumpon Pinnacle has Ideal Conditions for Photography
Hi everyone and welcome back to my underwater photography blog with Sairee Cottage Diving. We head out to Chumpon Pinnacle twice a week. I always make sure I catch that boat! Chumpon Pinnacle is an amazing dive site. More often than not, Chumpon Pinnacle features crystal clear water. This is perfect for taking underwater photos. What better environment to learn to become an Digital Underwater Photographer. When you start out, you will use basic gear. Having clear water will reduce the back scatter in your images. That way you can focus on other aspects of underwater photography. As you become more experienced you will experiment with more advanced gear. Recently I have been experimenting with two strobes and a wide angle dome lens to get great shots like this one. With two strobes you can illuminate a much wider area needed for the wide angle lens and get great natural colours without the need for filters or constantly adjusting the white balance. Playing with the camera settings a bit allows you to get the sun shining down in the background without over exposing the whole frame. Diving Koh Tao at the moment is a treat with great visibility and clear water. This makes it more rewarding when taking pictures as it means I have less trouble with back scatter.
