Dive Sites
The Abundance of marine life and the beauty of the coral reefs surrounding Koh Tao have lead the island to become one of the major dive sites in Thailand. Diving Koh Tao is attracting beginners and professionals alike. There are over 30 dive sites surrounding Turtle Island. The water is an average temperature of 28 degrees Celsius with few currents. The dive site's depths range from 10 - 40 meters making scuba diving enjoyable for all levels of divers. While most dives have an average depth of 12-18 meters, some dive sites like Chumphon Pinnacle or Sailrock, require Advanced Diver level. Most dive sites of Koh Tao are close to the island so boat trips are fairly short.
A great variety of marine life can be viewed while diving Koh Tao! There are Boxfish, Banner Fish, a variety of Moray Eels, Scorpion Fish, Butterfly Fish, Sweet Lips, many different Groupers, Barracudas, and Turtles, there are Octopus, Reef Sharks, Leopard Sharks and gigantic Whale Sharks, and much much more! Scuba diving in Koh Tao is possible all year around with peak seasons tending to be around March, April and again from June to September. During these times visibility can reach up to 30 meters. The monsoon season in the Gulf of Thailand starts in November and goes until about January. Although it is typically rainy only in November, diving is still possible. Whale sharks, Minke Whales, Pilot Whales and Bride Whales are often spotted around Koh Tao during these months. Please contact us for more information.
